FAQs
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a caregiver and a housekeeper?
A caregiver provides non-medical support to a person — companionship, help with agreed daily routines, meals and appointment accompaniment. A housekeeper or household assistant looks after the home — cleaning, laundry, organisation and agreed household tasks. The roles need different skills, so we treat them as separate services and do not use the terms interchangeably.
Is this a placement agency or a managed service?
SteadHelp is planned as a managed service. Rather than simply introducing a worker, we intend to agree defined duties, match staff to the role, provide a named service contact and review the arrangement regularly. The exact responsibilities will be set out in your written service agreement.
Can I arrange support from abroad?
Yes. Many enquiries come from Nigerians living outside the country who are arranging support for a parent or relative. We aim to offer a clear point of contact and agreed updates for authorised family members, while respecting the wishes and privacy of the person receiving support.
Do you provide nursing or medical treatment?
No. Our caregiving is non-medical. We do not provide nursing, diagnosis, injections, wound care or other clinical treatment. Caregivers may give medication reminders only. For clinical needs, please work with a qualified health professional.
What happens if a worker is absent?
Absence and replacement arrangements will be explained clearly and agreed in your written service agreement before service begins. We do not promise instant or guaranteed replacement times.
Can I request a particular schedule?
Yes, you can tell us your preferred schedule — from occasional visits to regular daytime support. Whether we can meet it depends on location, staffing and the type of support requested.
Are live-in arrangements available?
Overnight and live-in arrangements can be discussed as enquiries only. They are subject to suitability, fair working conditions and availability, and are not confirmed services. We do not offer one worker providing continuous 24-hour care.
How is pricing calculated?
Pricing is based on the agreed duties, support needs, schedule, location and staffing arrangement. You will receive a personalised quote after a consultation.
Which areas of Lagos and Ibadan do you serve?
We are still confirming coverage. Availability will depend on neighbourhood, staffing, travel requirements and the type of support requested. Use the enquiry form on our Lagos or Ibadan page to register interest for your area.
Can you help manage my existing helper?
We plan to offer support for families who already employ a helper, such as a role and workload review, written routines, relevant training and periodic coordination. Employment and management arrangements must be agreed separately; this does not automatically transfer employment responsibility to SteadHelp.
How are workers assessed?
We intend to use a structured recruitment and assessment process for each role. The specific checks will be published once confirmed. No screening process removes all risk; clear procedures, supervision and reporting help manage concerns.
How are family updates shared?
Update frequency and method will be agreed with you and, where appropriate, with the person receiving support. We do not require photographs, video monitoring or continuous surveillance.
Who employs the worker?
This depends on the service arrangement and will be defined clearly in the written service agreement before service begins.
How do I raise a complaint?
Clients, family members and workers will be able to raise concerns with their named service contact, with a route to escalate. The full complaints procedure will be set out in the written service agreement.
